Welcome to a psychotherapy practice for couples and individuals offering a specialized knowledge and understanding of the unique experiences faced by Veterans, First Responders, and Healthcare Workers.

Meet Holly

As a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario with nearly 15 years of experience, I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate the unique challenges faced by first responders, veterans, and healthcare workers.

Growing up in a military community, I witnessed firsthand the impacts that war, trauma, and reintegration can have on individuals and their loved ones. This early exposure strongly influenced my path, and I am committed to helping those who serve our communities and their country. These experiences inspired my work with individuals who carry a deep sense of responsibility to serve and protect. I understand these high-stakes roles and the personal and professional challenges, as well as the impact on family life and relationships.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (2011) where I focused on complex grief in combat veterans, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology (2009). My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and other modalities designed to support healing from trauma, building connection within relationships, and developing emotional insight. I am committed to ongoing professional development and stay current on therapeutic techniques and approaches that benefit the populations I serve. My work with couples is greatly influenced by the groundbreaking work of Esther Perel and Dr. Sue Johnson. In individual work, I draw upon the concept of moral injury explored by Dr. Jonathan Shay and the trauma-focused modalities developed by Dr. Candice Monson.

Previously I worked with Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, leading a collaborative team who provided therapy services and support for couples, families, spouses, and children. In this role, I developed and delivered couples retreats, family support programs, and intensive collaboration within the medical release process for ill and injured CAF members. A significant aspect of my role involved offering compassionate care to families of fallen service members, supporting them through unimaginable transitions of grief and loss.

In 2018, following the birth of my second child, I moved to exclusively work in private practice. This shift allowed me to dedicate more time for my family, while broadening my support to other service-based professionals, including police, firefighters, paramedics, and healthcare workers. It also enabled me to return to my primary passion: providing ‘boots-on-the-ground’ psychotherapy with a personalized approach, focusing directly on the unique needs of my clients.

As a military spouse, I’ve experienced the challenges and rewards of a life rooted in service. My family and I have put down permanent roots in Kingston, Ontario, embracing it as our home. Outside of my therapy practice, you’ll find me hiking with my dog, cheering my son and daughter on in a hockey rink, or traveling with my family.
